Do you want your child to learn new languages and expand their vocabulary? How about exposing them to art and the city of Paris? Check out Crêpes by Suzette App by Monica Wellington! Crepes by Suzette is a wonderful and interesting book about a crepe maker in Paris. This crepe maker travels the city and with the illustrations, music and interactive features of this app, you get the sense of what Paris is like. This book was originally published in 2004 and has recently been republished again after a short time out of print. After reading this book, you and your child will want to make crepes!

After downloading the app, check out the variety of interactive features. With this app, you can read the book, check out different landmarks of Paris within each page or on a map, watch videos of crepe making, and learn how to speak key words in French, German, Spanish, Japanese and Italian. Each page in the book has one key word that is translated into these six different languages when you navigate to the “vocabulary page”. As your child turns the page on this app, you child can activate each character who will speak the key word in different voices. For example, in this page below, after the text is read the reader can activate Suzette, the postman, the bird, the bunny, the dog, etc. Each character will say “Bonjour” in a different voice. When you navigate back to the vocabulary page, you can learn what Bonjour means and how you can translate it into five different languages. There is also a link to the “art” page which describes the art within each scene. Download here.

Bluebee Pal Goes to Paris

  1. Connect your Bluebee Pal to your favorite device via bluetooth.
  2. When you open the app, choose “Read to Me”
  3. Bluebee Pal will read this interactive story to your child! Touch the different pictures in the scene and you will hear the target word. For example, the phrase On y va in French means Let’s go in English. 
  4. Touch the “video icon” from the home page and you will see short clips of artists in Paris. Press on vocabulary and you can learn new vocabulary in six different Learning ! This app is endless fun for your child and Bluebee Pal.
